BAMAKO: Local officials said on Friday that at least 13 people were killed in a militant attack in Mali.

A local official said that the terrorists had killed 13 people and also burned houses in the village of Kani-Bonzon in the African country. Another politician told the media that they asked the government and UN Peacekeeping mission to provide them assistance.
Mali has been fighting a severe political and security crisis since militants and separatists broke out in the northern part of the African country by 2012.
According to AFP, the militants linked with Al-Qaeda have escalated their activities into Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso. Reports said that thousands of civilians, troops and police have been killed in the region since long.
