Board of Control for Cricket in India confirms resignation
“Yes, Chetan Sharma has given his resignation to secretary BCCI, Jay Shah,” an official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed to PTI news agency. After the TV sting operation, his position had become untenable.”
Since December 2020, Sharma has been in the post and last month was re-appointed. Zee TV, on Tuesday, released footage that showed him discussing matters related to the men’s cricket team. In the video clipping, he said that the former captain of the Indian team, Virat Kohli had an “ego clash” with Sourav Ganguly, the former BCCI president.
He said that Kohli had falsely claimed that he was removed from the ODI captaincy without any discussion from the governing body. “There was no need to talk about this topic, but he did so intentionally,” Sharma said in the video footage.
Chetan also alleged that few players take injections after injuries to speed up their recovery and play even when unfit for the match. He has made no public comment since the footage emerged.
