ISLAMABAD: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Pakistan have been unable to reach staff-level agreement following a week-long talk on 9th Review, local media reported on Thursday.
In a statement, Pakistan’s Secretary Finance Hamid Yaqoob Shaikh said that an agreement on actions and advance steps was reached during the talks with the IMF. He added that staff-level agreement would also be reached following the approval from the IMF head office in Washington. The Secretary Finance said that the IMF mission has asked for more time for staff-level agreement and he hoped that the agreement will be reached in next few days.
Pakistan-IMF talks end
The official said that the talks with the IMF have been concluded and all matters between the two sides have been agreed upon.
Local media reported that as the talks with the IMF over bailout program concluded on Thursday, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also approved the deal with the IMF saying all matters were settled.

Media reports say that Shehbaz Sharif and IMF delegation also held a meeting through video link which was also attended by the country’s Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
Earlier today, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar was confident that all matters would be settled with the world financial body. The minister said the government was working expeditiously to enhance road infrastructure to facilitate economic prosperity and growth.
