Pakistan: HEC Arranges Idea Camps under PM’s National Innovation Award

ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission HEC is conducting Idea Pitching Boot Camps for the candidates of Prime Minister’s National Innovation Award round-l.

256 candidates are taking part in the 5-day idea-pitching boot camp that started on 6 February and will continue till 10 February, simultaneously, at five higher education institutions, including University of Engineering and Technology, (Lahore), Institute of Business Administration, (Karachi), Engineering and Management Sciences, (Quetta), Institute of Management Sciences, (Peshawar),   National University of Sciences and Technology, Islamabad and Balochistan University of Information Technology.

The candidates were shortlisted from nearly 13,000 applications. The applications were received from students from 15 to 30 years of age in October and November 2022.

Applications for each and every type of idea

The applications were received for all types of innovative ideas including sustainable energy, information technology, water management, and food security, etc.

In this process, fifty ideas will be finalized for the award, and the maximum funding provided to a single startup will be 2 million rupees that is divided into 2 portions.

Initially, an amount of up to 1 million rupees will be provided to the top ten selected ideas, while the rest of the forty ideas will be provided with up to 0.5 million rupees.
