RAWALPINDI: Pakistan and Tajikistan have concluded their third joint counterterrorism exercise, Dosti-III, at the Special Operations School in Cherat, the military’s media wing said on Friday.

The exercise began on October 26 and concluded on November 6, bringing together troops from both armies for joint training and the exchange of counterterrorism expertise.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the drills focused on sharing operational experience, refining procedures and improving combat skills through mutual training and the exchange of best practices.

The exercise also provided an opportunity for both forces to strengthen their operational capabilities through shared learning.

Defence Cooperation

ISPR said Dosti-III reflected the longstanding military cooperation between Pakistan and Tajikistan and reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to further strengthen bilateral defence ties.

The exercise follows the previous edition, Dosti-II, which was held at Fakhrobod Base in Tajikistan.

Military cooperation between Pakistan and Tajikistan has increasingly focused on counterterrorism, regional security and strengthening defence capabilities.

Instability in neighbouring Afghanistan remains a shared security concern for Islamabad and Dushanbe, providing an important basis for closer coordination between their armed forces.

Through joint exercises, both countries seek to improve operational readiness, exchange expertise, and strengthen their ability to address evolving security challenges.
