ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to further strengthening its partnership with Beijing through sustained political engagement and greater institutional cooperation.

Addressing a symposium in Islamabad on Monday, Dar called for expanding exchanges between think tanks, universities and other institutions of the two countries, particularly in the areas of governance, poverty alleviation and development planning.

He stressed the importance of engaging young people to carry forward the longstanding friendship between the two countries.

75 years of diplomatic relations

Dar noted that the two countries were celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, adding that bilateral ties had evolved into an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership based on mutual trust, respect and support.

He said the broad-based political consensus in Pakistan in support of relations with China remained a key strength of the partnership. He added that the friendship continued to contribute to peace and stability in the region and beyond.

Pakistan’s economic reforms and China’s development experience

Highlighting China’s development achievements, Dar said Pakistan had also made significant progress towards economic self-reliance and stabilisation and was now moving towards economic consolidation.

He said these gains were underpinned by governance reforms, including macroeconomic discipline, institutional modernisation, digital tax administration and simplified regulations.

Dar highlights China’s global peace and governance initiatives

Dar said President Xi Jinping’s Four Point Peace Proposal for the Middle East marked a significant expression of China’s philosophy for promoting comprehensive, common and indivisible security.

President Xi’s landmark Global Governance Initiative (GGI) has also underscored China’s consistent commitment to advancing fairness, justice and equity in the international governance architecture.

Political cooperation to strengthen bilateral ties

Ishaq Dar added that the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC) has been our key partner in nurturing Islamabad-Bejing friendship through its sustained engagement with the political parties of Pakistan.

The China-Pakistan Political Parties Forum and the CPEC Political Parties Joint Consultation Mechanism continue to provide valuable platforms for sustained dialogue, political cooperation and exchange of experiences between our two countries.

Meanwhile, Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said the two countries had consistently stood by each other.

He acknowledged the longstanding support extended by Pakistan’s political parties to the bilateral friendship, noting that the relationship was built on a strong political foundation.

Ishaq Dar also held a bilateral meeting with Liu Haixing in Islamabad on Monday, a Foreign Office statement said.

Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Islamabad’s continued commitment to further strengthening the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership with China. The two sides discussed ways to enhance cultural ties and people-to-people exchanges.
