RIYADH: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has signed a joint executive programme with a civil society organisation to rehabilitate educational and community facilities in Syria’s Homs Governorate, a project expected to benefit 2,715 people directly and a further 12,500 indirectly.

The programme was signed by KSrelief Assistant General Supervisor of Operations and Programmes, Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz. It will involve the rehabilitation of two schools and a community facility in Homs, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Friday.

The work will include renovating 53 classrooms and 17 administrative offices, as well as several laboratories and halls. The buildings will also be furnished and equipped with solar power systems.

The initiative forms part of KSrelief’s programme to restore educational facilities across Syria, which has so far supported the rehabilitation, construction and equipping of 62 schools in several governorates.

The agreement reflects Saudi Arabia’s ongoing humanitarian and relief efforts through KSrelief to support the education sector across Syria. The initiative aims to help schools resume their educational and community activities while providing students with a safe learning environment.
