In August, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, aimed at strengthening collective deterrence against any act of aggression.
Under the agreement, an armed attack against any one of the three countries would be considered an attack against all three.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed the agreement.
On October 5, the Strategic-Political and Defence Committee of the Makkah Alliance for Defence decided to move immediately to the practical implementation of the collective defence commitments and to take the necessary measures to provide the agreed military forces and capabilities and ensure their rapid deployment in Saudi Arabia.
Earlier on Sunday, the Group of four regional Muslim countries (R4) strongly condemned the ongoing hostile attacks perpetrated by the Houthis against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkiye, in a joint statement, condemned the heinous attacks targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, resulting in civilian deaths and injuries, as well as damage to civilian infrastructure and facilities, which constitute a blatant violation of international law.
“The Group reaffirms that these attacks constitute a flagrant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, posing a direct threat to its security, stability, and the safety of civilians, and it is a dangerous escalation that cannot be justified or accepted under any pretext,” the group said in the statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry.
