ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Brazil on Monday agreed to enhance military-to-military collaboration while expressing satisfaction with the longstanding cordial relations between the two countries, the military’s media wing said on Monday.

The understanding was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’sChief of Defence Forces and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and a high-level delegation from Brazil, led by Admiral Renato Rodrigues De Aguiar Freire, Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, the regional security environment and avenues for enhancing bilateral defence and security cooperation.

“They expressed satisfaction with the longstanding cordial relations between Pakistan and Brazil and agreed to further strengthen military-to-military collaboration,” ISPR said.

Field Marshal Asim Munir emphasised Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defence ties with Brazil.

Admiral Friere appreciated the professionalism and operational preparedness of the Armed Forces of Pakistan and acknowledged their contributions towards regional peace and stability, ISPR said.

“The visit reflects the shared resolve of Pakistan and Brazil to deepen defence cooperation and strengthen bilateral military ties,” the statement concluded.

Upon arrival at GHQ, the visiting dignitary was presented a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent.

Pakistan and Brazil maintain friendly bilateral relations, with defence cooperation emerging as an important area of engagement between the two countries.

Their collaboration includes opportunities in defence production, military training, technology exchange and professional interaction between their armed forces.

Both countries have also explored avenues to strengthen military-to-military ties through high-level visits and discussions on regional and international security issues.

The defence relationship gained momentum in April 2025, when Pakistan and Brazil signed a memorandum of understanding on defence cooperation covering the development, production and trade of defence products.
