Egypt, UAE, Uruguay and OIC Commission Condemn Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia

CAIRO: Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Uruguay and the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Saturday strongly condemned Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, including strikes targeting King Khalid International Airport and Abha International Airport.

In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the attacks targeting King Khalid International Airport and a Saudia aircraft in Riyadh, which resulted in the martyrdom of three Saudi citizens and injuries to several citizens and residents, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry expressed its categorical rejection of the assault, terming it a flagrant violation of international law.

The ministry reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with the Kingdom in all measures undertaken to safeguard its security, national sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens and residents.

The ministry stressed that assaults on civil aviation undermine regional and international peace and stability, extending sincere condolences to the Saudi leadership, government, and people, while wishing the injured a swift recovery.

Meanwhile, the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the attacks carried out by the Houthis on Abha International Airport, King Khalid International Airport, and a civilian aircraft, SPA reported.

The commission described the attacks as a flagrant violation of international human rights law and international humanitarian law.

It called on the international community, the United Nations, and relevant international and regional mechanisms to unequivocally condemn the attacks and take urgent action to prevent their recurrence, stressing the need to hold the terrorist Houthi militias accountable for these acts.

The commission also expressed its full solidarity with the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, extended its sincere condolences to the victims’ families, and wished all those injured a speedy recovery.

Similarly, the United Arab Emirates condemned in the strongest terms the attacks launched by the Houthis on King Khalid International Airport and a Saudia aircraft in the Kingdom.

In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasised that these attacks constitute a flagrant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and a threat to its security and stability, SPA reported.

The ministry affirmed the UAE’s full solidarity with the Kingdom and its support for all measures taken to preserve its security and stability.

It also expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the victims’ families, as well as to the Kingdom and its people, and wished a speedy recovery to all the injured.

Similarly, Uruguay condemned attacks launched by the Houthis against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, SPA reported.

In a statement, Uruguay’s Ministry of Foreign Relations expressed solidarity with the Kingdom, its government and people, extended condolences to the victims’ families, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

The ministry also expressed deep concern over attacks and threats targeting commercial shipping in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb Strait. It emphasised the importance of ensuring the safety of vessels and their crews, respecting freedom of navigation, and upholding the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Uruguay reiterated its support for United Nations efforts, particularly those led by the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen, to achieve a comprehensive political solution that contributes to restoring peace and stability in the region.
