ISLAMABAD: Pakistan received $3.6 billion in workers’ remittances in September 2026, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Friday.
Remittances rose by 12.7% year on year, compared with $3.2 billion recorded in September 2025. However, on a month-on-month basis, inflows declined by 1.9% from $3.7 billion in August 2026.
Cumulatively, workers’ remittances increased by 14.74% during July–September FY27, reaching $10.9 billion, compared with $9.5 billion received during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
Workers’ remittances play a vital role in supporting Pakistan’s external account, boosting economic activity and supplementing the disposable incomes of households that rely on funds sent from abroad.
In September 2026, workers’ remittances recorded an inflow of US$ 3.6 billion showing an increase of 12.7 percent on y/y basis and decrease of 1.9 percent on m/m basis.

Saudi Arabia leads Pakistan’s remittance inflows at $899 million
Overseas Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia sent the highest amount of remittances to Pakistan in September 2026, totalling $899.13 million. This represented a 19.73% increase from $750.98 million received in the same month last year. Inflows also rose by 3% month on month from $873.52 million in August 2026.
Remittances from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) increased by 10% year on year, rising from $677.15 million in September 2025 to $748.53 million in September 2026. However, on a month-on-month basis, inflows decreased by 0.17% from $749.83 million recorded in August 2026.
Remittances from the United Kingdom (UK) reached $515.15 million in September 2026, up 13.3% from $454.79 million received in the same month last year.

Overseas Pakistanis in the United States (US) sent $305.87 million in remittances during September 2026, marking a 13.7% increase from $269.02 million in September 2025. However, inflows from the US declined by 1% month-on-month from $308.84 million in August 2026.
Meanwhile, remittances from European Union (EU) countries totalled $447.71 million in September 2026, down 9.7% from $495.94 million recorded in August 2026.
