NEW YORK: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has met with Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah in New York and discussed regional and international developments.
During the meeting held on the sidelines of the High-Level Segment of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, they reiterated their shared commitment to promoting peace, stability and prosperity, a statement issued by the PM Office’s media wing said on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister conveyed warm greetings to the Crown Prince and reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong and brotherly relations with Kuwait.
“The two leaders reviewed bilateral ties and discussed avenues for further strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest,” the statement said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the importance Pakistan attaches to its relations with Kuwait and highlighted the potential for enhanced cooperation in trade, investment, energy and human resource development.
Pakistan and Kuwait enjoy longstanding and cordial relations, marked by close political, economic and defence cooperation. The two countries maintain regular high-level exchanges and collaborate in areas including trade, investment, energy, manpower and security, while Pakistan values Kuwait’s support for its development and regional stability.

Last month, Kuwait’s Defence Minister, Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Saleem Al-Sabah visited Pakistan and held meetings with senior civilian and military leaders to discuss bilateral defence cooperation and regional security.
During the visit, the two sides also signed the Pakistan-Kuwait Defence Protocol Agreement 2026, aimed at further strengthening defence ties and cooperation between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a separate meeting with the Foreign Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, in New York and discussed the situation in the Middle East
The two Foreign Ministers held a cordial exchange and reviewed the close and longstanding Pakistan-Kuwait relationship, the Foreign Office said.

“They welcomed the sustained high-level interactions between the two countries and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation across areas of mutual interest,” it said.
The two sides exchanged views on regional and international developments, and emphasised the importance of continued dialogue and diplomacy to address all issues and promote peace and stability.
Pakistan PM arrives in New York
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in New York on Monday to attend the high-level segment of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), where he is scheduled to address the gathering on September 25.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Prime Minister Sharif will also hold bilateral meetings with world leaders and participate in high-level events on the sidelines of the UNGA session, which runs from September 21 to 25.

Prime Minister Sharif is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly on September 25.
On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session, PM Sharif will hold bilateral meetings with world leaders and participate in high-level events. He will also present Pakistan’s perspective on regional and global developments and highlight the country’s priorities at the UN General Assembly.
