NEW YORK: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has stressed the need for full implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan and UN Security Council Resolution 2803.
He made the remarks at the Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Eight Arab-Islamic Countries in New on Tuesday, a statement issued by the Foreign Office said.
Dar expressed serious concern over continued ceasefire violations as well as the loss of lives in Gaza.
He strongly condemned the continued illegal settlement activities and settler violence in the Occupied West Bank, and called for rejecting any attempts to undermine the historical status of the holy sites.

The Deputy PM reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for a sovereign, independent, and contiguous Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
The Gaza Peace Plan is a US-backed 20-point framework aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza and establishing a transition towards long-term stability in the Palestinian territory.
It includes provisions for a ceasefire, the release of prisoners, increased humanitarian aid, the phased withdrawal of Israeli forces, Hamas’ disarmament, transitional Palestinian governance and the reconstruction of Gaza.
Israel launched relentless strikes on Gaza after the Hamas-led October 7, 2023 attack.
Since October 2023, the Israeli military campaign has killed more than 73,700 people in Gaza, according to Gaza’s health ministry, whose figures are considered reliable by the United Nations.
With so many Palestinians left homeless and major shortages of construction materials, many Gaza residents have taken the risk of moving into shaky buildings.
Dar meets Palestinian Observer to UN
Earlier on Monday Ishaq Dar met with the Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations, Ambassador Riyad Mansour at the UN Headquarters in New York.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people, including their inalienable right to self-determination and an independent, contiguous and sovereign Palestinian State, the Foreign Office said.

He added that Pakistan will continue to strongly raise the issue during UNGA and at all relevant forums, including in bilateral engagements on the sidelines, and advance international efforts for an immediate end to the suffering in Gaza and a just and lasting peace.
Ishaq Dar arrives in New York to attend 81st UNGA session
Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar arrived in New York on Monday to participate in the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to the Foreign Office, the Deputy Prime Minister has a full programme of high-level engagements in the week ahead.
He will participate in ministerial forums and deliver Pakistan’s statements and interventions on key issues of importance to Pakistan, including bilateral, regional and international priorities across the UN agenda.
Alongside accompanying the Prime Minister, he will hold a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts and participate in a range of high-level engagements on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
