KOHAT: Pakistan’s security forces have killed all seven terrorists involved in the suicide and gun attack on the Kohat Police Lines mosque, bringing a 22-hour operation to an end, security officials said.
The operation concluded after Pakistan Army commandos, police, Counter-Terrorism Department personnel and bomb disposal teams cleared the Police Lines compound and eliminated the remaining terrorists hiding inside the facility.
The attack left at least 31 people dead, including 16 police personnel, while more than 100 others were injured. The assault began on Friday when a vehicle-borne suicide blast struck the Police Lines compound during Friday prayers, followed by intense exchanges of fire between the terrorists and security personnel.
Security sources said a total of seven terrorists involved in the attack were killed during the operation, which was carried out under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Kohat.

The terrorists launched the attack on Friday, beginning with a vehicle-borne suicide blast at the Police Lines compound during Friday prayers, followed by intense exchanges of fire with security personnel.
Clearance operation completed
Security forces fought the attackers throughout the night before launching a targeted clearance operation after Fajr prayers to eliminate the remaining terrorists.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Kohat, with Army commandos joining police and other security personnel in the final clearance phase.
After the last terrorists were killed, security personnel searched the compound for explosives and other threats before handing the area back to police authorities.
The attack on Kohat Police Lines mosque triggered a swift response from security forces, who launched the operation to eliminate the terrorists and restore security in the area.
The involvement of specialised units, including commandos and bomb disposal teams, helped in completing the clearance process while ensuring the safety of personnel and nearby areas.
Security officials continue to monitor the situation as investigations into the attack and the network behind it progress.
