ISLAMABAD: American President Joe Biden has said on Monday that he will not be sending F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine in order to help Kyiv in its war against Russia.

Replying to the query by reporters whether the United States would be sending the fighter jet that Ukrainian leaders are seeking, Biden said “No”.

Macron sets conditions for delivery of F-16 fighter jets

Meanwhile in a visit to the Netherlands, French President Emmanuel Macron said he would not rule out the delivery of fighter jets to Kyiv. Macron made the comments after talks with the Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

He warned that the step could lead to an escalation in the conflict and stressed, in principle, nothing is excluded.

During his talk, Macron set out conditions for providing the jets, which include that any arms Ukraine requests would not be escalatory in nature and not be likely to target Russian territory. This would mean their use would only be confined to resistance efforts.

Along with these conditions, Macron said that such deliveries must not negatively affect the French armed forces capacity.

He maintained that presently the Ukrainians were not requesting F-16 jets.

The delivery of F-16 fighter jets had been suggested by several Dutch politicians.
