WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has criticised the American left and Democrats in a post on social media, accusing them of preferring the United States to lose the war in Iran rather than see him “win the war for America”.
“These are very sick people who suffer from serious TDS, sometimes referred to as Trump Derangement Syndrome,” he said in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.

Vance declines to give timeline for end to war
US Vice President JD Vance on Thursday said the fighting between the United States and Iran was not a war and declined to provide a timeline for when the conflict would be over.
His comments come as Washington and Tehran exchanged back-and-forth attacks this week after a period of relative calm, with no diplomatic talks with the Iranians underway to end the conflict.
Trump claims US has ‘virtually unlimited’ stockpiles
Earlier on Thursday, President Trump said that the United States has “virtually unlimited” supplies of ammunition and is producing munitions at unprecedented levels, rejecting reports that the war with Iran is putting pressure on American military stockpiles.
Trump made the remarks in posts on his Truth Social platform, attacking media outlets and others who have reported that US ammunition supplies are being depleted by the conflict.

“We have virtually unlimited amounts of mid- to high-grade ammunition, far more than we could ever use for this, or for any other war,” Trump said.
He added that the United States was producing “munitions at levels never seen before” and was stockpiling weapons for “any contingency that could happen”.

Trump said Washington was currently keeping the munitions for its own use rather than selling them to other countries. He said sales to US allies would resume soon.
“We are taking them for ourselves, the U.S.A., rather than selling them to others, but the sales to Allies will soon again begin,” the US President said.
Trump rejects reports of shortages
Trump accused media outlets and individuals reporting on declining US ammunition stocks of being “treasonous” and said they were “100 per cent wrong”.
“They do it because they would rather see the United States lose a war that we’re easily winning, than see me win!” the US President said in another Truth Social post.
Reports point to pressure on weapons inventories
Trump’s claims come after weeks of reports that the US military has been drawing down some important weapons inventories faster than they can be replenished.
CBS News reported on August 4, citing two people with direct knowledge of the matter, that the United States had used nearly all of its global stockpile of long-range precision missiles during the war.
The sources said the US had used virtually all of its Army Tactical Missile Systems, known as ATACMS, and Precision Strike Missiles.
Reuters had previously reported that the United States had used “virtually all” of its long-range precision missiles during Operation Epic Fury against Iran.
