JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman met Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tarik in Jeddah on Tuesday, where the two leaders discussed regional developments.
During the meeting, the two leaders also reviewed the close ties between Saudi Arabia and Oman, areas of bilateral cooperation, and promising opportunities to further strengthen and develop relations across various fields, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
They also discussed developments in the region and ongoing efforts to preserve regional security and stability.

US strikes Iranian launchers on Larak Island
It is pertinent to mention that the United States on Sunday struck two Iranian launchers on Larak Island near the Strait of Hormuz, according to a US official, in the first known American attack on Iran since President Donald Trump paused a renewed military campaign in late July.
US Central Command (Centcom) spokesman Tim Hawkins said Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces had been observed preparing to launch rockets carrying sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz, according to CBS News.
The IRGC said the Sunday attack killed two people and wounded two others, describing the strike as a “strategic and fatal mistake by the Trump regime” and warning that the United States would face consequences.
Qatar urges US, Iran to resume talks
Meanwhile, Qatar has urged the United States and Iran to return to negotiations after they renewed tit-for-tat attacks.

“We have said from day one that leaving the issue unresolved and trying to normalise the closure of the Strait would lead to escalation,” Qatari foreign ministry spokesman Majed Al Ansari tells a regular press briefing.

“This is precisely what we have witnessed over the past two days,” he said. “We urge the parties to exercise wisdom and return to the negotiating path, and we continue to intensify our efforts with our mediation partners to ensure a return to that path.”
