UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan has strongly condemned the latest gang attack in Kenscoff, Haiti, while urging the international community to overcome logistical challenges delaying the full deployment of the Gang Suppression Force (GSF).
Speaking at an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council on Haiti, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, highlighted the continuing suffering of Haitian civilians and called for coordinated international action.
“The latest incident is a grim and stark reminder of the long-drawn security situation faced by the Haitian people, with atrocious attacks by gangs targeting civilians that disproportionately affect women and children,” Ambassador Ahmad said.
Pakistan Calls for Swift International Action against
Pakistan noted that the Security Council authorised the GSF last year to support Haitian authorities in tackling escalating gang violence.
Ambassador Ahmad stressed that the force’s timely and full deployment was critical to supporting Haitian-led security efforts and restoring confidence among the population.

He also called for concerted measures to stem the flow of illicit weapons into Haiti, which continues to fuel gang violence and instability.
Pakistan urged stronger international cooperation to help Haiti navigate the prolonged security crisis, while emphasising that lasting stability cannot be achieved through security measures alone.
Pakistan Backs Haitian-Led Solution
Ambassador Ahmad said a durable solution required addressing the underlying and interconnected causes of instability through a Haitian-led and Haitian-owned process.
Pakistan also welcomed efforts by the Standing Group of Partners to mobilise support for the GSF and assist Haiti in developing a comprehensive disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration strategy.
Reaffirming its solidarity with the Haitian people, Pakistan pledged to continue playing a constructive role in supporting international and Haitian-led initiatives.
Islamabad reiterated its commitment to efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace, stability, progress and prosperity in Haiti.
