ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s textile exports rose 8.07 per cent year-on-year to $1.814 billion in July 2026, the first month of the new fiscal year, according to provisional data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Textile exports stood at $1.678 billion in July 2025. On a month-on-month basis, shipments surged 43.13 per cent from $1.267 billion in June, marking a strong start to fiscal year 2026-27.
Knitwear remained the largest textile export category, rising 4.06 per cent year-on-year to $533.84 million from $512.99 million. Readymade garment exports increased 15 percent to $459.99 million from $399.99 million.

Bedwear exports rose 4.16 percent to $308.50 million, whereas towel exports increased 13.37 percent to $106.36 million. Cotton yarn exports recorded stronger growth of 18.69 percent, reaching $66.53 million from $56.05 million a year earlier.
Other textile materials increased 21.98 percent to $79.46 million, and made-up articles excluding towels and bedwear rose 10.56 percent to $77.21 million.

Some categories recorded declines. Exports of cotton cloth slipped 0.10 percent to $141.59 million, art, silk and synthetic textiles fell 8.22 percent to $30.41 million, and other cotton yarn declined 23.26 percent to $2.28 million.
Textile, central to Pakistan’s exports
Pakistan’s textile sector remains central to the country’s export economy, with the government identifying it as one of the country’s largest industrial sectors and a major source of foreign exchange. Pakistan is also among Asia’s leading textile exporters.
The July increase follows a relatively subdued performance during fiscal year 2025-26. Textile exports during July-February FY26 had risen only 0.3 percent year-on-year to $12.25 billion, according to Pakistan Textile Council data, before later months brought stronger shipments.
Pakistan’s total merchandise exports also strengthened in July, reaching a provisional $2.962 billion, up 10.40 percent from $2.683 billion a year earlier and 32.11 percent from June.
