ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces killed seven Indian-backed terrorists during an intelligence-based counterterrorism operation in Kharan district of Balochistan, security sources said on Sunday.
The operation was conducted in the Lajay area after security forces received intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists affiliated with the Indian proxy, Fitna al-Khawarij, in the area, according to security sources.
Fitna al-Khawarij is a term used by the state to refer to the terrorist groups—particularly factions of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)—that carry out attacks inside Pakistan.

Security forces completely destroyed the hideouts of the terrorists during the operation. Advanced weapons, a large amount of ammunition, other war material, two vehicles and a motorcycle were also recovered from the terrorists.
The security sources said the terrorists were involved in planning looting, extortion, kidnapping for ransom, target killings and suicide attacks in Kharan and Lajay areas.
Security sources said the intelligence-based operations under Radd-ul-Fitna 3 in Balochistan are continuing to completely eliminate terrorism.
President Zardari commends security forces
President Asif Ali Zardari has lauded the security forces for the successful intelligence-based operation in Kharan district of Balochistan.
In a statement, he said the dismantling of the hideouts of the Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists and the recovery of a large quantity of arms and ammunition is a significant achievement.
The President said operations against terrorist elements operating under external patronage are indispensable for the protection of national security.
Asif Ali Zardari reiterated that the entire nation stands shoulder to should by the security forces of Pakistan in the war against terrorism.
Pakistan witnesses surge in terror activities
Pakistan witnessed a surge in terror activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, since 2021, when the Afghan Taliban came into power.

Last month, security forces and law enforcement personnel jointly launched Operation Shaban in Balochistan in retaliation for a deadly attack on a police post at the Mangi Dam pumping station in Ziarat on July 6.
On July 9, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the country’s civil and military leadership had taken a “mutual and singular decision” to end terrorism from the country.
He made the remarks at a meeting in Quetta of the Provincial Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, with the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of the Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, also present.
