ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces killed at least 10 India-backed terrorists during an intelligence-based counterterrorism operation in Khuzdar district of Balochistan, security sources said on Saturday.
The operation was conducted in the Shor Parod mountainous range following reports of the presence of terrorists affiliated with Indian proxy Fitna al-Hindustan, security sources said.
Security forces cordoned off several suspected terrorist hideouts and launched an operation. The terrorists were present in three small groups, the sources said.
An exchange of fire followed, resulting in the deaths of 10 Indian-sponsored terrorists. Several terrorists were also wounded during the counterterrorism operation, the sources added.
The security forces are determined to continue operations until the menace of terrorism is completely eliminated from the country, the sources added.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the security forces for the successful intelligence-based operation against Indian-sponsored terrorists in Khuzdar.
In their separate statements, they said that timely action and successful operations are proof of Pakistan’s security forces’ professional skills and expertise.
The President and Prime Minister said that the entire nation stands united alongside the security forces to root out the menace of terrorism from the country.

The successful counterterrorism operation took place three days after at least eight terrorists affiliated with Indian proxy Fitna al-Hindustan were killed when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) detonated prematurely while being prepared in the Surab district of Balochistan.
In a subsequent operation, the security forces detected the movement of fleeing terrorists during the operation and killed 10 of them.
Pakistan witnessed a surge in terror activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, since 2021, when the Afghan Taliban came into power.
Last month, security forces and law enforcement personnel jointly launched Operation Shaban in Balochistan in retaliation for a deadly attack on a police post at the Mangi Dam pumping station in Ziarat on July 6.
On July 9, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the country’s civil and military leadership had taken a “mutual and singular decision” to end terrorism from the country.
He made the remarks at a meeting in Quetta of the Provincial Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, with the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir also present.
