CHENNAI: An IndiGo passenger flight made a safe emergency landing at Chennai airport after suffering an engine failure shortly before its scheduled arrival, prompting authorities to declare a full emergency.
The flight was travelling from Kolkata to Chennai when its left engine developed a failure as the aircraft approached its destination, according to reports.
Airport authorities activated emergency procedures to prepare for the aircraft’s arrival, with the flight given priority to land. Despite operating with one engine, the pilots brought the aircraft safely onto the runway. No injuries among passengers or crew were reported.
The incident triggered emergency response measures at Chennai airport as ground teams remained prepared for the landing.
