KABUL, Afghanistan: Armed resistance groups have intensified attacks against Taliban regime positions across northern Afghanistan as anti-Taliban fighters seized a Taliban regime outpost in Baghlan province.
Local sources, cited by Afghanistan International, said that anti-Taliban regime fighters attacked a Taliban regime outpost in Deh Salah district of Baghlan province on Wednesday night, launching a rocket strike before engaging Taliban regime fighters in a gun battle.
The sources, cited by Afghanistan International, said the resistance fighters captured the outpost, seizing weapons and equipment before withdrawing. No resistance group claimed responsibility for the assault.
According to the sources, the attack took place at around 10:20 p.m. local time on an outpost located about two kilometres from the centre of Deh Salah district in the Andarab valley. Gunfire and explosions were heard during the fighting, they said.
Following the attack, Taliban regime fighters reportedly searched homes in several villages across the district. Residents said similar searches were carried out after a rocket attack on another Taliban regime outpost in Kasa Tarash village on July 27.
Afghanistan resistance groups intensify operations
The reported assault comes amid a broader increase in attacks by armed opposition groups against the Taliban regime.
Resistance groups including the Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF), the National Resistance Front (NRF), the Afghanistan United Front and the Sepah-e Mihan Front have claimed attacks on Taliban regime positions in several provinces in recent days.

Establishment of a new armed organisation, Jabha-e-Rahaibakhsh (Liberation Front), led by Gul Mohammad Pahlawan, is expected to be formally announced in the coming days.
Local sources said fighters linked to the group were behind an attack on Taliban regime forces in Bilchiragh district of Faryab province earlier this week and another operation in Ghormach district.
Security analysts cited by Afghanistan International said resistance operations have become more frequent in provinces including Faryab, Badakhshan and Baghlan, reflecting growing political, economic and social grievances.
They said the emergence of additional armed groups suggested that opposition to Taliban rule was becoming increasingly decentralised and locally organised.
