ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Security forces have continued a series of intelligence-based operations under Operation 11 Garaj across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past two months, targeting terrorist hideouts, facilitators, and networks involved in terrorist activities, according to security sources on Sunday.

The latest operation was conducted in the Shakro area of Bajaur, where security forces successfully targeted terrorist positions based on intelligence information.

The operation resulted in the destruction of terrorist hideouts, with several terrorists killed and injured, the sources said.

During the ongoing campaign, security forces also apprehended facilitators and recovered a significant quantity of arms, ammunition, and other equipment. Improvised explosive devices (IEDs) prepared and used by terrorists were also identified and neutralised during the operations.

Security sources said the operations are being carried out with the support of ground forces and quadcopter surveillance technology, which has improved monitoring capabilities and operational effectiveness.

The sustained campaign has put pressure on terrorists and forced them to move away from populated areas.

The sources emphasised that all possible measures are being taken to ensure the protection of civilians, with operations planned and conducted carefully to minimize risks to local communities and safeguard lives and property.

Security forces reiterated their commitment to continuing operations against terrorism until terrorist networks are eliminated and lasting peace and stability are restored in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Earlier, Pakistan’s security forces killed the mastermind behind the July 30 attack on Khazina Banda police checkpost in Hangu district of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, security sources said on Sunday.

Muawiya was a senior leader of Fitna-al-Khawarij in Kurram after Commander Kazim. He was wanted by the security forces in several other terrorist attacks, security sources said.

Fitna-al-Khawarij is a term the state uses for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist group, which is based in Afghanistan and involved in terrorist attacks inside Pakistan.

“Security forces have avenged the martyrdom of Hangu police personnel,” security sources said.

The attack on the Khazina Banda checkpost had claimed the lives of nine police personnel, including a deputy superintendent of police, and left 28 injured. Police officials said an exchange of fire had broken out after the terrorists attacked the checkpost, and 15 terrorists were killed in retaliatory action.
