ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed the progress made under the Board of Peace towards implementing the Gaza Peace Plan, particularly the disarmament process, expressing confidence that the latest developments would lead to the swift realisation of all commitments outlined in the UN Security Council-backed agreement.
In an official statement, the Prime Minister commended the mediating nations, United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkiye, for their tireless diplomacy in preserving dialogue and driving the peace process forward.
The progress represents a notable milestone for the Board of Peace, established under the leadership of US President Donald Trump. Pakistan formally joined this international coalition in January 2026, becoming one of eight Muslim nations participating in the initiative alongside Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.

The Board was mandated to oversee the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803, which authorises a transitional authority and supports an International Stabilisation Force to facilitate Israeli withdrawal.

In its official statement, Pakistan expressed hope that these diplomatic efforts will ultimately realise the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people through a credible and time-bound political process consistent with international law and relevant UN resolutions.
This vision, long championed by Pakistan, calls for the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and contiguous State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

Prime Minister Sharif, who personally signed the Board of Peace charter alongside other world leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos, has reiterated Pakistan’s readiness to work closely with the Board for full implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan.
