RIYADH: Saudi Arabia on Friday welcomed the announcement by President Donald Trump about the historic agreement on the decommissioning of weapons in the Gaza Strip.
The Foreign Ministry, in a statement, commended President Trump’s leadership and steadfast commitment, which have been instrumental in achieving this significant milestone.
It expressed its appreciation to Egypt, Qatar, Turkiye, the United States, the Board of Peace, and all partners whose sustained efforts made this historic achievement possible.
“The Kingdom reaffirms its full commitment to the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Plan, as endorsed by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, in coordination with international and regional partners, and underscores the importance of implementing all agreed phases in a timely, credible, and irreversible manner,” it said.

Saudi Arabia also stressed the need for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, the deployment of an International Stabilisation Force, and the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid and reconstruction assistance to the Palestinian people.

Referring to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, the Kingdom underscored that the return of the Palestinian Authority to Gaza and the preservation of the unity of the Occupied Palestinian Territory are essential for implementing the Comprehensive Peace Plan and achieving long-term stability and lasting peace.
Saudi Arabia reaffirmed that the agreement should serve as the starting point for a broader political process aimed at fully implementing the Comprehensive Peace Plan and safeguarding the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
It added that these steps would pave the way for peaceful coexistence between the State of Palestine and Israel based on mutual recognition.
It noted that a just and lasting peace can only be achieved through a comprehensive political settlement that brings the conflict to an end and lays the foundation for a future defined by security, stability, and shared prosperity for all the peoples of the region.
Hamas agrees to disarm in Gaza
The Board of Peace announced on Friday that Hamas has agreed to a detailed roadmap for implementing the next phases of the Gaza ceasefire, following months of negotiations mediated by Egypt, Qatar, Turkiye and the United States.

In a statement posted on X, the Board of Peace said the agreement advances US President Donald Trump’s vision for new governance, security, humanitarian relief, reconstruction and economic recovery in Gaza, as outlined in the Comprehensive Peace Plan and UN Security Council Resolution 2803.

According to the statement, the roadmap marks a “historic breakthrough”, with Hamas committing for the first time to an actionable plan to relinquish all of its weapons. The disarmament process is expected to be followed by a phased withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.
The Board of Peace said the agreement aims to improve living conditions for Palestinians in Gaza while strengthening security for Israel.
It added that attention will now shift to implementing the roadmap. The Board said it has been working closely with the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), which is expected to assume authority through a phased transition supported by the International Stabilisation Force (ISF).
