ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s full solidarity with the leadership and people of Kuwait and strongly condemned the attacks on Kuwait and other Gulf nations during the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
During a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, he said that Islamabad was playing its part as an honest and sincere mediator and facilitator in the regional peace efforts and thanked the Kuwaiti leadership for its support for these efforts, said a statement issued by the PM House’s media wing.
Pakistan has urged the United States and Iran to exercise restraint and uphold the Islamabad memorandum of understanding to halt the Middle East war after renewed fighting broke out.
The Islamabad MoU was signed on June 18 by US President Donald Trump, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif after Pakistan brokered a ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.
Under the Islamabad MoU, the US and Iran committed to halt military operations, reopen the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping and negotiate a comprehensive agreement covering Iran’s nuclear programme, US sanctions and a permanent ceasefire within 60 days.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his best wishes to the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.
Pakistan Kuwait ties built on shared values and mutual trust
Recalling the historic and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Kuwait, built on shared values and mutual trust, the Prime Minister said the two countries had consistently supported each other through challenging times.
Discussing bilateral ties, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the positive momentum in relations and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Kuwait in key sectors, including trade, investment, energy, agriculture, information technology, maritime affairs and human resource development.

He also appreciated Kuwait’s hospitality towards the Pakistani community and acknowledged its role in contributing to Kuwait’s economic and social progress.
Foreign Minister Al-Sabah conveyed the greetings of the Kuwaiti leadership to the Prime Minister and reaffirmed Kuwait’s resolve to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
He appreciated Islamabad’s efforts, including those by the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in promoting dialogue and diplomacy to address regional challenges and support peace efforts. He also thanked Pakistan’s leadership and people for their solidarity and support during difficult circumstances.
The two sides agreed to maintain close consultation and coordination on matters of mutual interest and decided to exchange delegations in the near future to further advance bilateral discussions. The Prime Minister also renewed his invitation to the Kuwaiti Crown Prince to visit Pakistan at a mutually convenient date.
Pakistan, Kuwait discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation
Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on Tuesday discussed matters of mutual interest, the regional security situation and steps to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, the military’s media wing said.

The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister called on Field Marshal Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said.
Kuwait’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Nassar Abdul Rahman J. Al-Mutairi, accompanied the Foreign Minister during the meeting with Field Marshal Munir.
“During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security and steps to further strengthen bilateral cooperation were discussed,” ISPR stated.
The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister appreciated Islmabad’s steadfast support, its constructive contribution toward regional peace and stability and the deep-rooted fraternal ties shared between the two nations.
Field Marshal Munir reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to Kuwait, emphasising that both countries share a common vision for regional peace and prosperity.
Pakistan, Kuwait agree to institutionalise bilateral ties
Pakistan and Kuwait have also agreed to further institutionalise bilateral cooperation through enhanced institutional linkages and regular high-level exchanges.
This understanding was reached during delegation-level talks led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in Islamabad on Wednesday, a Foreign Office statement said.

“The two sides reviewed the entire spectrum of Pakistan-Kuwait bilateral relations and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, energy, labour, agriculture, information technology, health, mining and minerals, defence, and the broader economic partnership,” it said.
Later Kuwait’s Foreign Minister departed Islamabad following the successful conclusion of his official visit to Pakistan.
