MOSCOW, Russia: Russia said on Monday that more than 400 Ukrainian drones targeted the Moscow region overnight in one of the largest aerial attacks on the Russian capital since the war began.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said more than 400 drones were headed towards the region between 8:30 p.m. Sunday and 5:00 a.m. Monday, adding that most were intercepted by Russian air defence systems before reaching the capital.
“From 8:30 pm until 5:00 am, more than 400 enemy drones were flying in the direction of the Moscow region. Most were neutralised by air defence forces at distant approaches. Eighty-five UAVs were destroyed on approach to Moscow,” Sobyanin wrote on the state-backed MAX platform.
Russia’s state news agency TASS reported that six people, including three foreign nationals, were hospitalised with blast injuries in the Moscow region.

According to Domodedovo Hospital, the injured were admitted with blast-related wounds of varying severity. Authorities did not immediately confirm whether the injuries were directly linked to the drone attacks.
Domodedovo, located south of Moscow, is home to one of the Russian capital’s major international airports.
Ukraine has stepped up long-range drone attacks on Russian territory in recent months, describing them as retaliation for Russia’s continued missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.
The latest attack comes as fighting between Russia and Ukraine remains intense, with both sides increasingly relying on long-range missiles and drones to strike military and logistical targets far behind the front lines.
