WASHINGTON: The Biden administration announced on Thursday that the US forces have killed a key commander of Daesh Bilal Al-Sudani in Somalia. It added that ten other fighters of the group were also killed in the raid.
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said in a statement that this act leaves the US and its allies safer and it indicates their commitment to secure the Americans from the threat of terrorism abroad and at home.
US conducts raid in Africa
AP reported that President Biden was briefed last week about the proposed operation, which came together following months of planning. Two officials told AP on the condition of anonymity that the US President gave final approval to conduct the operation this week.

The official claimed that Bilal Al-Sudani and ten other Daesh men were killed during a shootout following the US military personnel descended on a mountainous cave complex in the northern part of Somalia hoping to arrest him.
