“The successful operation underscores Pakistan Navy’s and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of life at sea and its readiness to respond to maritime emergencies around the clock,” ISPR said.
The rescue comes as Pakistan’s maritime authorities remain on heightened alert because of increased shipping activity.
The distress call was coordinated through the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC), Pakistan’s national maritime information-sharing hub established in 2013 to coordinate responses to emergencies at sea.
The centre brings together the Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), Pakistan Coast Guards, port authorities and other government stakeholders to ensure a unified response to maritime incidents.
