RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned a series of deadly terrorist attacks targeting security personnel in Pakistan’s southwestern province of Balochistan, expressing solidarity with the government and people of Pakistan.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced “all terrorist and extremist acts” and conveyed its support for Pakistan’s efforts to safeguard its security, sovereignty and territorial integrity, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The ministry also offered condolences to the families of those killed in the attacks, which claimed the lives of dozens of military and police personnel in the province bordering Afghanistan and Iran.

Pakistani authorities said on Wednesday that at least 42 soldiers and police officers had been killed in three separate attacks in Balochistan since Monday.

One of the deadliest incidents occurred at the Mangi Dam project in Ziarat district, where terrorists attacked a security post, killing 18 police officers. Four civilians were also reported among the fatalities.

In response to the attacks, Pakistani security forces carried out a series of operations in the region, killing 54 terrorists, according to authorities.
