ISLAMABAD: More than 2,000 international brands and over 425 companies are participating in the 32nd Textile Asia International Exhibition 2026, which is underway in Pakistan’s eastern city of Lahore.

Official delegations from more than eight countries, including China, Türkiye, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Russia, are attending the event.

The exhibition focuses on the buying and selling potential of textile and garment machinery, clothing textile accessories, raw material supplies, textile dyes, chemicals, digital technologies and other sectors linked to the textile industry.

Textiles remain Pakistan’s largest export sector, earning $17.97 billion last year, according to data shared by the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association. Pakistan is also the eighth-largest exporter of textile products in Asia, with the sector comprising 46 per cent of the country’s manufacturing base and employing 40 per cent of its total labour force.

The event is being organised by Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan and supported by the Special Investment Facilitation Council, a civil-military government body formed to attract foreign investment in priority sectors.

State broadcaster Radio Pakistan said Textile Asia 2026 is creating new opportunities for investment, technology transfer, export growth and industrial development, while reinforcing Pakistan’s position as a competitive destination for the global textile industry.

Alongside the exhibition, the Eco Textile Conference 2.0 is also being held, featuring discussions on green manufacturing, renewable energy, circular economy and emerging global industry trends.

Pakistan has been working to expand textile exports and promote an export-led economy.
