ISLAMABAD:  More than 232,000 Pakistani pilgrims have registered online for Hajj 2027 during the first 14 days of the registration campaign, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony said on Sunday.

The online registration drive has received an overwhelming response, with applicants completing the process through the Pak Hajj mobile app and the online Hajj portal developed in collaboration with the National IT Board, according to the ministry.

The ministry said the digital system has made registration faster, more secure, and transparent, allowing applicants to complete the process within minutes without visiting banks or government offices.

Of the total registrations, about 175,000 were submitted under the government Hajj scheme, while nearly 58,000 applicants registered through the private Hajj scheme.

Punjab recorded the highest number of registrations with more than 108,000 applicants, followed by Sindh with 71,000, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 33,000, Islamabad with 11,000, Balochistan with 7,000, Azad Jammu and Kashmir with 1,500, and Gilgit-Baltistan with 700.

The registered applicants include approximately 136,000 men and 96,000 women intending to perform Hajj.

The ministry said online registration for Hajj 2027 will remain open until further notice and urged all intending pilgrims to complete the process promptly to remain eligible under the upcoming Hajj policy.

A total of 179,210 Pakistanis performed Hajj in 2026 under the country’s official quota. Of these, 119,210 pilgrims travelled under the government Hajj scheme, while 60,000 performed the pilgrimage through private Hajj operators.

Saudi Arabia hosts millions of Muslims every year for Hajj, one of Islam’s five pillars.

The pilgrimage is obligatory at least once in a lifetime for Muslims who are physically and financially able to undertake the journey.
