Cultural Envoy praises media collaboration, CPEC, and people-to-people ties during a visit to WE News.

ISLAMABAD: Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy, Chen Peng, has said that Pakistan’s role in preventing war between Iran and the United States was ‘amazing,’ while also describing CPEC as the ‘most important bridge’ connecting the two all-weather allies.

During his visit to WE News, on Wednesday, Peng said, “I have been working in Pakistan for one and a half years, and I have found Pakistani people very brave, friendly, and full of hospitality.”

Peng was received by Chief Executive Officer Amjad Aziz Malik, Chief Editor Ammar Masood, Director WE News English Irfan Ghauri, and Director WE News Urdu Khurram Shahzad, along with other senior officials. During the visit, he was given a comprehensive tour of various sections of the media house, where he observed the operations and interacted with the staff.

Expressing his admiration for the media team, he stated: “Today is my first visit to WE News, and I have found its team very talented, full of energy and power. In future, we will have more cooperation and organise a lot of events.”

Cultural exchanges to strengthen bilateral friendship

The Cultural Counsellor emphasised that Pakistani people now know more about Chinese culture, while he has been actively introducing Pakistan’s rich traditions, including its cuisine and polo, to Chinese audiences.

“I like Pakistani food, especially the barbecue. I also love polo and have introduced that to Chinese people,” he said.

He added: “I find Pakistani people very brave and hardworking. Both nations want peace for the world. The tradition of friendship between our two nations will foster, and we will work together to make the world more beautiful and peaceful.”

CPEC: The most important bridge between China and Pakistan

Highlighting the transformative role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Mr. Peng described it as the backbone of bilateral relations:

“CPEC is the most important bridge connecting China and Pakistan. CPEC will create a lot of jobs for Pakistani people and bring benefits and development to Pakistani society. CPEC will become an example of the relationship between both Pakistan and China.”

He also stressed the importance of promoting tourism and cultural exchanges, encouraging more Pakistani people to travel to China and experience its heritage firsthand.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan. Mr. Peng noted that both countries have organised a series of events to commemorate the occasion, which will further solidify their historic bond.

“Both nations have a bright future,” he affirmed.

Pakistan’s role in Iran-U.S. conflict lauded

In a notable observation, Mr. Peng praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in de-escalating tensions between Iran and the United States:

“Pakistan played a significant role in the Iran-U.S. situation and attracted the attention of the whole world in bringing peace and preventing war. That is an amazing thing.”

He reiterated that China and Pakistan will continue to enhance cooperation across multiple sectors to promote peace and development in the region and beyond.

30,000 Pakistani students strengthening ties annually

Mr. Peng also highlighted the growing educational partnership between the two countries, revealing that China now hosts the highest number of Pakistani students:

“Every year, nearly 30,000 Pakistani students are enrolled in China, strengthening our relations. I hope more Pakistani students will continue studying in China and become the future bridge between our two great nations.”
