ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces have foiled an attempted attack on a security check post in Chitral, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, after terrorists identified as Khawarij tried to launch an assault in the area.

Fitna al-Khawarij is a term used by the state to refer to the India-backed terrorist groups—particularly factions of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)—that carry out attacks inside Pakistan.

According to official sources, the attempt was effectively neutralised due to the timely response, operational readiness and professional competence of the security personnel deployed at the site.

Authorities stated that the prompt and coordinated action prevented the attackers from achieving their objectives.

The swift reaction once again highlighted the preparedness, vigilance and tactical efficiency of Pakistan’s security forces in dealing with emerging security threats.

Officials further noted that terrorist groups have repeatedly failed to withstand the operational capability of security forces, which remain on constant alert to counter terrorism-related threats across the country.

The forces, they added, are fully equipped and trained to disrupt hostile plans before they can be executed.

Reaffirming their commitment, security forces emphasised that safeguarding the lives and property of citizens remains their foremost responsibility.

They continue to play a critical role in maintaining national security, peace and stability through sustained counter-terrorism efforts.

Authorities also stressed that all individuals involved in attacks on security personnel and civilians, including Khawarij terrorist, will be brought to justice under the law. No one, they said, will be allowed to escape legal accountability.

Security forces reiterated their resolve that no terrorist group will be permitted to challenge the writ of the state, endanger innocent lives or undermine national peace, and that all such threats will be dealt with in a timely and decisive manner.
