LAHORE: Pakistan have finalised their pace bowling group for the upcoming Test tours of the West Indies and England, with selectors opting for four specialist fast bowlers and one pace-bowling all-rounder.
The selected fast bowlers are Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Ali, Khurram Shehzad and uncapped pacer Ubaid Shah, while Aamer Jamal has been included as the fast-bowling all-rounder.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hasan Ali and Hammad Butt, who were part of the squad for the Bangladesh tour, have been left out.
Ubaid earns maiden call-up
Twenty-year-old right-arm pacer Ubaid Shah, from Lower Dir, has received his first call-up to the Pakistan Test squad. He has taken 72 wickets in 16 first-class matches at an average of 25.20. Ubaid is also the younger brother of Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah.
Mohammad Abbas is the most experienced seamer in the group, with 110 wickets in 29 Tests at an average of 23.23.
Mohammad Ali returns after last playing a Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi in September 2024, while Khurram Shehzad completes the specialist pace attack.
Aamer Jamal also returns after last appearing in Tests against South Africa in January 2025.
Pakistan are expected to leave for the West Indies on July 13 before playing a warm-up match from July 18. The two-Test series will be played from July 25-29 and August 2-6.
