ISLAMABAD: An article published by the Times of Israel in support of Baloch activist Mahrang Baloch has triggered questions in Pakistan over why an Israeli media platform is taking interest in a case linked to Balochistan’s internal security environment.
The article presented Mahrang Baloch as a peaceful activist and questioned action against her. However, Pakistani security observers argue that the Israeli media framing ignores the broader context of terrorism, banned outfits and violence against civilians and security personnel in Balochistan.
Balochistan has faced a sustained campaign by foreign-backed terrorists networks seeking to create unrest, ethnic division and mistrust between citizens and the state.
Security commentators say the issue is not peaceful dissent, but the use of human rights language to shield terrorist elements and build sympathy for banned groups.
They argue that international platforms often highlight selected activist claims while overlooking attacks on labourers, passengers, security personnel and ordinary citizens who have suffered from terrorist violence.
Questions over Israeli media interest
Commentators said the appearance of support from an Israeli outlet was not a coincidence, adding that anti-Pakistan narratives are often amplified abroad when the state acts against subversion.
They said Pakistan has a constitutional and legal responsibility to protect its sovereignty, citizens and institutions from terrorism, propaganda and externally supported destabilisation.
Officials and analysts maintain that Pakistan supports lawful political expression, but no state can allow activism to be used as a cover for disorder, violence or support for banned organisations.
