Eight Muslim Nations Condemn Israeli Settler Violence in Occupied West Bank

Warn such attacks constitute a clear violation of the sanctity of places of worship and religious sites

RIYADH: Foreign Ministers of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and six other Muslim nations have strongly condemned continued and escalating settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank,

The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkiye warn that such attacks constitute a clear violation of the sanctity of places of worship and religious sites, international law, including international humanitarian law, and relevant United Nations resolutions, said a statement issued by the Saudi Foreign Ministry on Thursday.

They also condemned recent attacks on the Grand Mosque in the village of Jiljilya and Al-Farouq Mosque in the village of Mazar’a al-Nubani, north of Ramallah.

The ministers reaffirmed their unequivocal rejection of such acts, as well as of the continued illegal measures undertaken by Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

They warned that these actions contribute to instability, violence and extremism, while undermining international efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace. The ministers also held Israel, as the occupying Power, responsible for the attacks.

They renewed their call on the international community to fulfil its legal and moral obligations by taking effective measures to compel Israel to halt its escalation in the occupied West Bank, cease its unlawful practices, put an end to settler violence and ensure that those responsible for such crimes are held accountable and do not enjoy impunity.

The foreign ministers expressed their unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and their steadfast support for the fulfilment of their legitimate and inalienable national rights, foremost among them the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

They also reiterated their support for all efforts aimed at ending the Israeli occupation and achieving a just, comprehensive and lasting peace through the two-State solution, in accordance with international law, relevant United Nations resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
