ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces have killed four “Indian-sponsored” terrorists in two separate intelligence-based counterterrorism operations in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the counterterrorism operations were carried out in Dera Ismail Khan and Mohmand districts of the province on the night between June 3 and 4, 2026.
“On the reported presence of khwarij, an intelligence-based operation was conducted by security forces in Dera Ismail Khan district. During the conduct of the operation, troops effectively engaged khwarij location, and after intense exchange of fire, two khwarij, belonging to India-sponsored Fitna al-Khwarij, were sent to hell,” the ISPR said.

The term Fitna al-Khawarij is used to refer to the banned terrorist groups, most prominently the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist group.
The military’s media wing said that another IBO was conducted by security forces in Mohmand district and, in ensuing skilful engagement, two more khwarij were effectively neutralised.
“Weapons and ammunition have also been recovered from killed khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area,” ISPR added.
The military said weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the terrorists, who were involved in multiple terrorist activities in the region.
Sanitisation operations are ongoing to ensure no additional terrorists are present in the area, the ISPR added.
Pakistan has repeatedly accused India of supporting terrorist networks operating inside Balochistan.
The military reiterated that the counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
The campaign aims to eradicate the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from Pakistan, with security forces and law enforcement agencies committed to continuing their efforts at full pace.
Pakistan has witnessed a surge in cross-border terror incidents since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.
Pakistan said the Afghan Taliban regime’s continued support for terrorist groups had enabled them to carry out attacks against the Pakistan military and civilian population along the Pak-Afghan border and in adjoining areas.
