EU Pledges $500 Million More to Arm Ukraine

BRUSSELS: The European Union (EU) foreign ministers agreed on Monday to spend an extra 500 million euros (540 million dollars) from their common treasury on arms for Ukraine as Kyiv is pleading for heavy weapons.

Under the deal, the EU would spend 3.6 billion euros on the military supply to Ukraine, which is separate from national allocations by individual member countries.

In total, European countries have vowed over 11 billion euros on weapons for Ukraine, less than the US spending for their ally.
