MINA: Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence Command and Control Centre has used drones, geospatial mapping, and real-time monitoring technologies to enhance pilgrim’s safety during the 2026 Hajj season.

The high-tech operation aims to strengthen emergency response capabilities, improve coordination among security agencies, and ensure smooth management of the holy sites amid the arrival of millions of pilgrims, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Friday.

Civil Defence spokesperson Colonel Mohammed Al-Hammadi told the SPA that the centre plays a key role in supporting field operations by analysing data and coordinating communication between regional commanders, field teams, and participating security agencies.

He added that the technology-driven framework, combined with skilled national expertise, enables faster decision-making and swift emergency response, underscoring the Kingdom’s commitment to ensuring safety and operational efficiency at the holy sites.
