NEW DELHI: India emerged as one of the largest suppliers of military-related goods to Israel during the Gaza genocide, according to a major international investigation that tracked global arms shipments following the International Court of Justice’s warning of a “plausible risk of genocide” in Gaza.

The investigation found that at least 51 countries and territories continued supplying military-related goods to Israel between October 2023 and October 2025, despite growing international criticism over the war and mounting civilian casualties in Gaza, reports Al Jazeera.

According to Israeli Tax Authority import records analysed during the investigation, the United States remained Israel’s biggest military supplier, accounting for more than 42 percent of imports, while India ranked second with around 26 percent of total military-related shipments entering Israel during the conflict.

India’s expanding defence role

The report highlighted multiple Indian companies involved in exporting weapons-related components to Israeli defence manufacturers during the invasion. These included Kalyani Rafael Advanced Systems, Kalyani Strategic Systems, Economic Explosives Limited, and Ashoka Manufacturing Private Limited.

Customs documents showed exports of fragmentation components, artillery shell bodies, munition metal parts, and booster pellets used in explosive munitions. Arms experts cited in the investigation said some components were linked to artillery systems and explosive devices commonly used in modern warfare.

The investigation stated that two of the largest consignments of explosive-related munitions originating from India arrived during the final months of the Gaza genocide, when humanitarian organisations accused Israel of intensified attacks on civilians and aid seekers.

Global arms flow continued

Besides the United States and India, Romania, Taiwan and the Czech Republic were identified among the top five suppliers of military-related goods to Israel during the conflict. European Union member states collectively accounted for nearly 19 percent of total imports.

The report also noted that military-related imports into Israel increased significantly after the ICJ ruling in January 2024, with explosive munitions making up the largest category of imports.

Legal experts cited in the investigation warned that countries continuing to supply arms despite international legal concerns could face accusations of complicity in potential violations of international law.
