LOS ANGELES: Angelina Jolie has celebrated her daughter Zahara Marley Jolie’s graduation alongside family members and friends, however her father Brad Pit was absent from the occasion.
The actress appeared elegant in a floor-length grey coat paired with black boots while walking with her children across the university campus.
The 21-year-old graduate marked the important milestone wearing a traditional black graduation cap and gown over a white dress.
She completed her academic look with a blue stole representing Spelman College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology.
During the graduation ceremony, Zahara was introduced to the audience as “Zahara Marley Jolie”, notably leaving out her father Brad Pitt’s surname.
The decision drew public attention as it reflected a similar moment in 2023, when she joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and also chose not to use Pitt’s last name.
Zahara is not the only member of the family to make such a decision.
Her siblings, including Vivienne Jolie and Shiloh Jolie, have also distanced themselves from the Pitt surname in recent years.
Shiloh officially changed her name legally in 2024, further highlighting the growing separation within the family dynamic.
Brad Pitt did not attend the graduation ceremony. Jolie and Pitt, once considered one of Hollywood’s most famous couples, officially divorced in 2016 following a highly publicised separation and ongoing legal disputes related to custody and family matters.
According to a source quoted by Page Six, it was “a shame people feel the need to cast a shadow over this celebration by taking a dig at a father who has already been separated from his family.”
Despite the ongoing public interest surrounding the former couple, the day remained a proud and memorable occasion focused on Zahara’s academic achievement and future success.
