ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Iran during a meeting with Ambassador-designate to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, ahead of his departure to Tehran.

During the meeting, Dar recalled the deep-rooted historical, cultural and fraternal ties between Pakistan and Iran, describing the relationship between the two neighbouring countries as longstanding and significant for regional peace and cooperation.

The deputy prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s strong commitment to further expanding bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, particularly trade, connectivity, people-to-people exchanges and broader regional collaboration.

According to the Foreign Office, Dar emphasised the importance of maintaining the positive momentum in bilateral engagement through close coordination, regular diplomatic interaction and mutual understanding between Islamabad and Tehran.

Constructive role

He also highlighted Pakistan’s constructive and responsible role in promoting regional peace, dialogue and stability amid ongoing regional challenges.

Dar expressed confidence that Ambassador-designate Imran Ahmed Siddiqui would play an important role in further strengthening the enduring partnership between Pakistan and Iran during his diplomatic assignment in Tehran.

The foreign minister also conveyed his best wishes to the envoy and wished him success in his new responsibilities.
