LAHORE: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 concluded with a host of individual awards recognising standout performers, with Peshawar Zalmi players dominating the honours following their title-winning campaign.
Zalmi’s mystery spinner Sufiyan Muqeem was named Player of the Tournament for his exceptional bowling throughout the season. He also claimed the Fazal Mehmood Cap after finishing as the leading wicket-taker with 22 wickets in 11 innings at an average of 14.40.
“My individual performance was good, and so was the team’s,” Muqeem said. “I have worked very hard on my bowling. It was written in the stars for me to be named the best bowler, and I’m very happy with it. Individual awards are very important for a player.”
Captain Babar Azam also enjoyed a remarkable season, winning the Hanif Mohammad Cap for scoring 588 runs in 11 innings at an average of 73.50. He was also adjudged the Best Batter of the Tournament, equalling the record for most runs in a single PSL edition.
Among other Zalmi players, Farhan Yousaf was named Best Fielder, while Kusal Mendis took home the award for Best Wicketkeeper.
Islamabad United skipper Shadab Khan was awarded Best All-Rounder after scoring 173 runs and taking 17 wickets. Hyderabad Kingsmen pacer Hunain Shah was named Emerging Player of the Tournament.
