RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s military said on Tuesday it had successfully carried out a training launch of its indigenously developed Fateh-II Missile System, in a major boost to the country’s conventional strike capabilities.

The Fateh-II system is equipped with modern avionics and state-of-the-art navigational aids, designed to enhance both precision and operational effectiveness, according to the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The Army Rocket Force Command conducted the training launch of the indigenously developed missile system.

“The training launch was aimed at training of troops, validating various technical parameters and performance evaluation of different sub-systems incorporated for improved accuracy and enhanced survivability,” the statement said.

The launch was witnessed by senior officers from the Strategic Plans Division, Army Rocket Force Command, and the Pakistan Army, along with scientists and Engineers of Strategic Organizations. The forum commended the successful training fire of the indigenously developed Missile of Fateh Series, ISPR said.

The President, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Chief of Defence Forces and Services Chiefs appreciated the technical prowess, dedication and commitment of all those who contributed towards the successful training fire of the missile.

The training launch of the indigenously developed Fatah-II missile took place a week after the Pakistan Navy successfully conducted a live firing of the Taimoor air-launched cruise missile, an indigenous anti-ship weapons system.
