RIYADH: Saudi aid agency, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), has made remarkable progress in clearing Yemeni land from mines under the Masam project, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.
A total of 1,273 mines were successfully removed in various areas of Yemen during the fourth week of April.
Overall, 105 anti-tank mines, 1,157 unexploded ordnance, 3 anti-personnel mines, and 8 improvised explosive devices were removed.
Under the Masam project 557,007 mines have been cleared, including 5,818 cleared so far in April.
The initiative focuses on clearing mines that have been indiscriminately planted across Yemeni territories, posing a serious threat to civilians, particularly children, women, and the elderly.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its humanitarian arm KSrelief, continues to intensify its demining efforts in Yemen, working to make affected areas safe and accessible once again.
These efforts not only help protect lives but also support the restoration of normal daily activities, allowing Yemeni communities to live in a more secure, stable, and dignified environment.
