LAHORE: Karachi Kings delivered a crushing blow to the Quetta Gladiators on Saturday at the Gaddafi Stadium, securing a dominant nine-wicket victory that officially eliminated the Gladiators from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 11 while keeping their own playoff aspirations firmly on track.

Chasing a competitive target of 196 runs, the Kings made light work of the chase, reaching the mark with over an over to spare and losing just one wicket. The victory was powered by a sensational unbeaten stand between David Warner and Reeza Hendricks.

Karachi’s chase began positively as openers Jason Roy and skipper David Warner built a solid foundation, pushing the team past 50 runs. The 58-run partnership ended when Jahandad Khan dismissed Roy for 20 off 15 balls.

However, that was the only success Quetta would taste. Reeza Hendricks joined Warner, and the pair proceeded to dismantle the Gladiators’ bowling attack.

Warner was in sublime touch, registering his sixth PSL half-century while leading from the front. Hendricks matched his partner shot for shot, bringing up his fifth PSL fifty as the duo propelled the team past 150 runs. The pair’s unbeaten 100-run partnership sealed the chase effortlessly.

Warner finished on 89 not out from 48 deliveries, while Hendricks remained unbeaten on 87 off 48 balls.

Earlier, Quetta Gladiators posted 195-6 after being invited to bat first. They suffered a disastrous start, losing both openers for ducks in the opening over, bowled by Hasan Ali.

However, skipper Saud Shakeel and Rilee Rossouw rebuilt the innings with a magnificent 147-run stand. Rossouw played a fiery knock of 90 off 54 balls, and Shakeel contributed 57.

Late runs from Dinesh Chandimal (30 not out) pushed the total to 195. For Karachi, Abbas Afridi, Hasan Ali, and Rizwanullah each claimed two wickets. Despite Rossouw’s heroics, the Gladiators’ total proved insufficient as Warner and Hendricks powered the Kings’ run chase to keep their playoff push alive.
