Pakistan’s Capital Islamabad to Have the Biggest Eco-Friendly Public Park in Margalla Hills

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s capital Islamabad, is set to have a 1,000-acre state-of-the-art park at the foothills of the Margalla Hills, a decision finalised during a high-level meeting chaired by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi at the headquarters of the civic agency, the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

The meeting involved a detailed review of ongoing and upcoming development projects aimed at transforming Islamabad into an exemplary city offering international standard facilities and recreational opportunities for the public, according to Minister Naqvi.

As part of this vision, a five-star hotel will be developed in collaboration with international firms through a joint venture to elevate the city’s infrastructure and tourist appeal.

Meeting reviewed progress on another five-star hotel being developed in partnership with the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI). Minister Naqvi issued orders to draft a new hotel policy providing zero taxes for investors to attract more investment to the capital.

The Interior Minister also announced a comprehensive survey of all land and properties in Islamabad in collaboration with the Survey of Pakistan to ensure better planning and management of the city’s assets. He further directed the formation of a marketing team for upcoming auctions to enhance investor participation.

In other decisions, the meeting confirmed that a control room for the Capital Emergency Services will be established within the Safe City project. Chairman CDA Sohail Ashraf provided a detailed briefing on the development projects underway.

As part of its efficiency enhancement measures, the CDA is in the process of digitalizing all data and transfer systems, introducing a digital dashboard under the One Window Operation, and phasing out redundant positions.
