GENEVA: World Health Organization (WHO) said on Thursday that China reported a big jump in Covid-19 hospitalizations in the week through to January, 15 to the highest since the epidemic began.
According to WHO, the world health body awaited “detailed data disaggregated by week of reporting” on nearly sixty thousand additional Coronavirus-related hospital deaths reported by Beijing last week and did not include them in the score.

WHO report said that the number of patients hospitalized with Covid-19 in China rose by 70 percent to 63,307 versus the last week. It said that this is the highest weekly figure the country has reported since COVID-19 emerged three years ago.

In last December, China abruptly dismantled its strict anti-virus policy of frequent testing, mass lockdowns and travel curbs and cases have surged since then across the country.
The WHO claimed China has been under-reporting the scale of Covid-19 and has called for more detailed data, including on deaths.
